Update on New Years Resolutions

I haven't been good about keeping this updated, mostly due to the boundaries I set in writing it, so that I don't ramble on and on about me, but instead post edifying and glorifying things. So, as you may have guessed, there's not a whole lot of edifying and glorifying to speak of lately. But perhaps in summarizing how my goals are going, I can say something coherent and worth reading!
  1. Quiet times now exist -- a step in the right direction -- but I am definitely struggling with energy and desire to keep going. I have been on the "Read your Bible in a Year" plan that several of my friends have all been doing as well (we didn't coordinate!). While it has a built-in grace period of only 25 days of total reading per month (leaving the remaining 3-6 to catch up, or take a break, or whatever), I'm finding it difficult to stay on schedule. I'm also finding it difficult to focus when I read right before bed. This is unfortunately the best chunk of time to read, but not my best time to read. (My best time is about 10am, but that's another story entirely.) I would appreciate encouragement and prayers as I attempt to seek the Lord more deeply through daily time in His Word.
  2. Working out has been better than anticipated; Hubby and I have played racquetball a couple of times, but derailed last week when I got a cold and have a lingering cough which makes breathing problematic. Hopefully this weekend/next week we will be able to pick back up and get our money's worth at the gym. Eating healthy has not happened, but I am making an effort to plan ahead on food a little so that we make fewer spur-of-the-moment food decisions and eat something terrible for us (but delicious!).
  3. The budget is more or less set! By the grace of God and good training, we are living well below our means. God has given us the resources to be able to dedicate some money to a "giving" account, and that is still under construction, but we have some ideas. Other than giving, things are settled, and we feel comfortable with the amount of money we will spend this year on living. We have learned a lot about communication, finances, and each other as we have ongoing discussions about how to use our money wisely. We just finished doing our taxes and are pleased (but not surprised) that we will get a good-sized refund due to Uncle Sam withholding at a single rate for 10 months out of 12.
That's all I got for now. I'll see if perhaps sometime soon I can form some coherent thoughts on our home-group study on God's sovereignty. Hubby will be preparing a lesson in a month or so, so I look forward to learning with him as he studies.
