Pride goes before destruction...

Isaiah 2:12-17 says:
12 For the LORD of hosts has a day
   against all that is proud and lofty,
   against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low;
13against all the cedars of Lebanon,
   lofty and lifted up;
   and against all the oaks of Bashan;
14against all the lofty mountains,
   and against all the uplifted hills;
15against every high tower,
   and against every fortified wall;
16against all the ships of Tarshish,
   and against all the beautiful craft.
17 And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled,
   and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low,
   and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.
I read this today and was humbled and reminded of God's jealous love and my own deep sinfulness. Anytime I put something above Him, even a good thing -- it is idolatry and pride. God does not tolerate this thinking; He will humble the proud. Maybe not right now, but what He promises will not fail. What a great reminder to start every day on my knees, humbly seeking His will and not my own.
